About the Springfield VA Knights of Columbus 5K Fun Run and Walk
The course runs through Burke Lake Park, a wooded setting with the kind of terrain you would expect from a park loop: mostly paved paths, gentle and accessible. It draws families with strollers alongside people who are actually racing, and the mood tilts firmly toward the former. Proceeds go to support Virginians with intellectual disabilities and a local school's tuition assistance program.
After the race, there is a barbecue lunch at the shelter for everyone who came out, runners and family members alike. Pets are not permitted anywhere at the event. The race goes on regardless of weather, so no need to watch the forecast.
