The course runs through historic downtown Taylorsville on an evening in early fall, with Main Street as the backbone of the route. The town is actually out and paying attention, not just passing through, and the surroundings are older downtown blocks that feel like somewhere rather than nowhere. The race benefits Spencer County Special Olympics, which shapes the mood of the whole evening.
