About the 19th Annual SPC Turkey Waddle 5K Run & Walk
The course runs through a neighborhood and crosses an earth dam on a lake, which is a highlight of the route. There is a short flight of steps just after that crossing, so stroller pushers will want a second set of hands for that stretch. Dogs are welcome on course, which gives the whole morning a neighborhood-outing feel.
The race is held at a local church on Thanksgiving morning, with refreshments at the finish. Food donations are collected alongside registration fees, with proceeds going to hunger relief. It is a simple setup, with a timing clock and not much fuss, which suits the holiday morning well.
