About the Solidarity Sidekick down Route 66 - Stop 7- Pontiac 6.6K
This is one stop in a series that traces Route 66 across Illinois in support of ALS awareness. The route runs through Pontiac, a town known for its murals and Route 66 heritage, so the surroundings give the run some character beyond the pavement. The distance is short enough that most people move through it comfortably, and walkers are part of the picture.
Part of what makes each stop distinct is that participants join a man completing the full Illinois Route 66 corridor solo, on foot, for a shared segment of his journey. In Pontiac, that overlap lands in a town that already draws Route 66 travelers, so the backdrop fits the mission. There is a post-run gathering with the broader series community afterward.
