About the Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 - Stop 18 - Old Chain of Rocks Bridge 6.6K
The course takes you across the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge, a long span over the Mississippi River with a distinct mid-river bend and open views in both directions. The bridge connects the two states, so you cross a state line on foot, with the river below and the sky wide open around you. The surface is road, and the route is flat.
The race is timed around sunset, so the light over the water is part of the experience. Before the run there is a gathering at the Illinois entrance with music and a send-off for Enric Casacuberta, who is running Route 66 to raise awareness for ALS. A post-run celebration with the broader series community follows at the finish.
