About the Solidarity Sidekick down Route 66 - Stop 11 - Lincoln 6.6K
The course runs through Lincoln's historic Route 66 corridor, passing the Railsplitter Covered Wagon, a towering roadside landmark with a figure of Abraham Lincoln riding atop it. The route is part of a statewide series honoring a solo runner completing the Illinois stretch of Route 66 to raise awareness for ALS. At this stop, participants join him for a shared segment of the route together.
The gathering point is beneath the Railsplitter, which doubles as a backdrop for photos after the run. A post-run celebration with the broader series community follows, and the crowd skews toward people connected to the ALS cause, families included.
