About the Solidarity Sidekick down Route 66 6.6K
This stop follows Route 66 through Williamsville, a small village where the road runs open and uncluttered under a wide Illinois sky. The pavement is clean and the surroundings are simple, which suits the purpose: the run is part of a series supporting ALS awareness, following a solo runner making his way along the full Illinois stretch of the Mother Road.
Post-run refreshments and a community gathering follow the finish. The event is built around joining the featured runner for a shared segment of the route, so there is a real sense of running alongside someone rather than just completing a course.
