About the Skagit Flats Marathon, Half & 5k
The course runs through Skagit Valley farmland on quiet rural roads, chosen specifically to avoid heavy traffic. It is flat the whole way, which is why the marathon draws Boston qualifier attempts. Both the marathon and half marathon finish on a high school track, which gives the end of the race a different feel than a typical road finish.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a local running store in Mount Vernon, with race-morning pickup available at the high school for those who cannot make it the prior day. Parking is at the high school, and the locker rooms there open after the race for showers. There is food at the finish for everyone who completes the course.
