About the Sixth Annual Run the Runway 5K - AGS
The course runs on an actual airport runway, which is about as unusual as road racing gets. The surface is mostly concrete with patches of gravel and dirt, and the route connects Augusta Regional Airport with a park along the Savannah River. It is flat and wide open, the kind of terrain that makes pace easy to judge.
The race starts from a park along the river, not the main airport terminal, so follow the directional signs on the day. Overflow parking is available on site, and golf cart shuttles run to help cover the distance. Vendors on the course provide water and fruit, and there is no rain cancellation policy, so plan to run in whatever the morning brings.
