About the Shirley May France 10k Road Race
The race is named for a Somerset woman who set open-water swimming records as a teenager and made multiple attempts to cross the English Channel. That backstory gives the event a real weight. The course runs through town, passing local restaurants, a creamery, and a credit union, so the neighborhood is very much part of the morning.
A local charity benefiting pediatric brain cancer research is woven into the event, and several small businesses along the route are part of the draw. The post-race area reflects that same local focus, with familiar Somerset spots close by.
