About the Shiprock Marathon
The course is an out-and-back on roads, and the return leg has a long, gradual downhill that makes the second half feel different from the first. Along the way, Shiprock Pinnacle sits out on the horizon. Live music from local and regional acts is set up at points along the route, so you hear it before you see the next aid station.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon and evening before the race at the Youth Center parking lot, with an early-morning window on race day as well. Parking directions are detailed in the race materials, and a parking crew is on hand to guide you in. Aid stations are frequent throughout, stocked with gels, fruit, electrolyte drink, and snacks.
