About the Shawangunk Valley 5 Miler & 1-Mile Kids Run
The course rolls through rural countryside outside Wallkill, passing fields, orchards, and a vineyard, with a prominent ridge visible in the distance. It is a loop that finishes on a downhill stretch flattening out at the end, so the last bit feels easier than the rest. The race benefits the local fire company, which gives the morning a grounded, neighborhood feel.
The start is at the fire house, which also serves as the registration point on race morning. Packet pickup opens before the kids run begins, so families arriving early can get sorted without rushing.
