About the Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile

The course starts near Killearn Methodist Church and winds through residential streets alongside a golf course. Locals describe it as tough, and that reputation holds. There is a real hill that shows up late in the route, and it has its own name among runners who have been coming back for years.

Packet pickup is at the church and runs across a couple of windows in the days before the race, with an option on race morning as well. Afterward, there is a pancake breakfast on site, and proceeds from the whole event go to local charities and youth programs.

Common Questions About the Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile

Will I finish last at the Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:15, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile a good first 5K?

A field of 407 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile?

The 5K winner ran 17:52 while the median finisher took 36:15. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
