About the Shades of Death 10 Miler
This one earns its name. The route travels backroads through farms and forests, with climbing spread across the course and a matching descent to balance it out. The roads are quiet and rural, and Shades of Death Road is exactly as atmospheric as it sounds. It is a genuine workout, not a flat neighborhood loop.
The race starts and finishes at the Polar Star Club. Aid stations are spaced out across the course, covering the early, middle, and late miles. After you finish, there is a meal, drinks, and live music at the venue. The proceeds go to local volunteer fire departments and other area charities.
