About the Scoogië's Oktoberfest 5k, 5 Miler, 2 Mile Jog/Walk & Kids Root Beer Run

The race runs through Ambler with an Oktoberfest theme behind it, organized in partnership with a local brewing company and the township. There are several distance options, so runners and walkers at different levels tend to show up. The whole thing leans toward a fall morning out rather than a hard effort.

After you finish, the brewing company has beer on hand for those of age, and food trucks and yard games fill out the post-race area. There is also a live awards ceremony with age group and overall categories. The setup feels more like a fall block party that happens to start with a race.

Will I finish last at the Scoogië's Oktoberfest 5k, 5 Miler, 2 Mile Jog/Walk & Kids Root Beer Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:18, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:34, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Scoogië's Oktoberfest 5k, 5 Miler, 2 Mile Jog/Walk & Kids Root Beer Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (155 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. How competitive is the Scoogië's Oktoberfest 5k, 5 Miler, 2 Mile Jog/Walk & Kids Root Beer Run?
