About the Scary Run
The course runs along the Columbia River on a dirt and gravel trail, with views of Mt. Hood across the water. It is largely flat, and the route splits at different points depending on which distance you chose, so pay attention to the signage and volunteers at each fork. The organizers send runners off the main trail in a few spots, so expect a surprise or two.
Packet pickup happens at a local running store the day before the race, and also at a Bi-Mart in Washougal on race morning. There is a post-race party with snacks and drinks after you finish.

The Scary Run has been held every year since at least 2018. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
