About the Scarecrow Festival Fun Run/Walk

The race starts and finishes on Hudson Street in downtown Oxford, kicking off the broader Scarecrow Festival for the day. The course runs on open roads, so you follow pedestrian rules as you go, and it is friendly to dogs on leashes and strollers. Costumes are encouraged, and plenty of runners show up in fall and Halloween gear.

Race-day registration opens in the morning on Hudson Street before the start. After you finish, the Scarecrow Festival activities are already underway downtown, so there is reason to hang around rather than head straight to your car.

Common Questions About the Scarecrow Festival Fun Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Scarecrow Festival Fun Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:43, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:32, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Scarecrow Festival Fun Run/Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (82 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Scarecrow Festival Fun Run/Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 21:22 while the median finisher took 36:43. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
