About the Scappoose Community Race 1k & 5k
The race runs out of Scappoose High School on the same day as the school's cross country invitational, so the campus is busy with student athletes when the community event gets going. The shorter distance is aimed at younger runners, many from a local youth running club, while the longer route draws a wider range of ages and paces.
After you finish, the invitational is still going, so there is actual racing to watch, along with food vendors and activity booths set up around the school grounds. It is a good reason to stick around rather than head straight to your car.
