About the Sargent Elementary 5K Turkey Trot
The 5K course runs through Long Dock Park, along trails rather than roads. The surroundings are scenic, and the pace of the morning reflects the school community behind it: parents, kids, and neighbors more than competitive runners. A shorter kids run happens on campus, led by the school's PE staff.
After the finish, there is a live DJ and refreshments. The school's student council also runs a food drive at the event, collecting non-perishable items in partnership with a local food organization, so bringing a can or two is worth thinking about before you head out.
