About the Saline Summerfest 5k

The course starts and finishes at City Hall, so it loops back to where you began, with the building as your landmark on both ends. The route runs through Saline itself, and race proceeds go to the local high school cross country program, which gives the morning a hometown feel without anyone having to say so.

Packet pickup the evening before is at a running store in Ann Arbor. Race-morning pickup opens well before the gun, right in front of City Hall. There is free ice cream after for a good chunk of the field, which tends to draw a crowd near the finish line.

Common Questions About the Saline Summerfest 5k

Will I finish last at the Saline Summerfest 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 27:43, and the last recorded finisher came in around 53:49, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Saline Summerfest 5k a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 212 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Saline Summerfest 5k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:31 while the median finisher took 27:43. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
