About the RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile)

The course circles Regency Square Mall on closed roads, so there is no traffic to worry about and the loop is easy to follow. Heats are split by age and gender, which keeps each wave tight and gives younger runners a real race rather than a mixed-field shuffle. An elite wave opens the morning using an equalizer format, with women going first.

Common Questions About the RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile)

Will I finish last at the RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile)?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 7:38, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:09:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile) a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (142 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the RVA Mile (aka Regency Mile)?

The 1 Miles winner ran 4:47 while the median finisher took 7:38. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
