About the Run to Exile
Run to Exile is a beer-focused running event in Des Moines built around the finish-line party as much as the course itself. Several distance options give runners a way to pick their level of commitment, up to and including the beer mile for those who want a different kind of challenge. Costumes show up regularly.
After the running, there is a stein-holding competition, which is exactly what it sounds like: full mugs, unsteady arms, and a crowd watching to see who drops first. Beer is at the finish. The atmosphere leans loud, with music and people gathered well past the last finisher.
