About the Run the Vineyards - Running Hare 5K

The course runs through the landscaped grounds of a working vineyard, so the scenery is grapevines and open property rather than pavement and parking lots. It is a chip-timed race, and walkers are welcome alongside runners, though the course closes after a generous window. The winery stays open during and after the race, which sets the tone for the morning.

Packet pickup is race morning only, at a tent on site. The main driveway closes shortly before the start and does not reopen until the race finishes, so arriving early matters. After the race, there is a food truck and live music on the vineyard grounds, and a drink ticket on each bib gets you a glass of wine or beer.

Common Questions About the Run the Vineyards - Running Hare 5K

Will I finish last at the Run the Vineyards - Running Hare 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 39:39, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:12, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run the Vineyards - Running Hare 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 227 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run the Vineyards - Running Hare 5K?

The 5K winner ran 20:22 while the median finisher took 39:39. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
