The course runs on the actual runways and taxiways of Chicago Executive Airport, which makes it unlike almost any road race around. The surface is smooth and wide open, with big skies and planes nearby. It is flat, and the airport setting gives the whole morning an unusual, industrial calm that you do not get in a park or on city streets.

Packet pickup happens at a location on South Plant Road in Wheeling across several windows in the week before race day. The building sits off Milwaukee Ave and has a green awning at the entrance. Post-race there is food, music, and kids' activities on site.
