About the Run the Rock

The course runs through Top of the Rock, a property with real terrain variety: asphalt gives way to gravel, dirt, wet rock, metal bridges, and water crossings. The hills are genuine, and the route passes waterfalls, a cave, and scenic overlooks. The longer distance option is pitched squarely at runners who already know what they are getting into.

Spectator access along the course is limited, so anyone cheering for you will mostly be waiting at the start and finish.

Common Questions About the Run the Rock

Will I finish last at the Run the Rock?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 1:04:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:52:33, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run the Rock a good first race?

A field of 333 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run the Rock?

The race winner ran 36:20 while the median finisher took 1:04:26. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
