About the Run the Ridge

Run the Ridge goes through North Ridgeville, put on by the local Lions Club and benefiting pediatric cancer research. Dogs are welcome on course, though the organizers ask that they stay toward the back of the start with a short leash. There is also a short kids' run around a track for younger participants before the main race begins.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the North Ridgeville Academic Center on Bainbridge Road, with race-morning pickup available as well. Post-race food and drinks are set up at the finish, and chip-timed results are posted live.

Common Questions About the Run the Ridge

Will I finish last at the Run the Ridge?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 32:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:02:04, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run the Ridge a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (118 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run the Ridge?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 19:01 while the median finisher took 32:20. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
