About the Run of the Dead 2026
Run of the Dead is tied to the Día de los Muertos holiday, and the atmosphere reflects that. Runners often show up in face paint and traditional attire, and an ofrenda built by a community leader is on display at the start. The race benefits a performing arts organization rooted in Southwest Detroit's Latinx community, so the morning has a purpose behind it beyond the miles.
Packet pickup happens at the Southwest Detroit Business Association on Vernor Hwy in the days before the race, with street and lot parking available there. Race-morning pickup is possible but limited. The start area has vendors and entertainment from the benefiting organization, and light food is out after you finish.
