About the Run of Remembrance

This is a Día de Muertos themed road race held in Dallas, timed to the start of the holiday. Several distance options let runners choose how far they go, and the course brings together people running for personal reasons as much as competitive ones. The whole event is grounded in Hispanic heritage rather than a generic fall-festival feel.

The finish line area has a live Mariachi band, DJ sets, and vendors set up when you come through. It reads more like a street festival than a post-race parking lot, and that carries through the morning.

Common Questions About the Run of Remembrance

Will I finish last at the Run of Remembrance?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:30, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:08, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run of Remembrance a good first 5K?

A field of 237 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run of Remembrance?

The 5K winner ran 20:24 while the median finisher took 35:30. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Run of Remembrance?

Join a local run club. 214 Run Club, Dallas Running Club, Run It Up Dallas and others in Dallas welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
