About the Run for The Springs 5k
The course runs on airport property, which gives it an unusual feel. Underfoot you get a mix of pavement, gravel, and uneven surfaces, so trail shoes or sturdy trainers make more sense than road flats. Planes may be operating nearby while you run. The race benefits spring and water resource protection in the area, so there is a conservation purpose behind the entry fee.
Packet pickup runs weekday mornings through the week before the race at the county engineer's office in Ocala. On race morning, registration and pickup open before the start. The finish area has refreshments, and age-group awards plus a team competition trophy are part of the post-race program.
