About the Run for the Roses 5k and Family Day
The course runs out along the Mississippi Riverwalk and back, starting and ending at a park right on the river in historic downtown Hastings. It is flat along the water, with the riverbank on one side and the old downtown on the other. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the race benefits a Thoroughbred rescue organization.
After the race, there are food trucks and live music at the park, and local bars and restaurants are running specials for runners. A running shoe brand has a pop-up tent on site where you can try on and buy shoes. The whole thing leans into a Kentucky Derby theme, so expect some festive hats in the crowd.
