About the Run for the Elk Race Festival: Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K
The course runs along the West Creek Trail in downtown Emporium, a town known as the elk capital of the state and set in the middle of wild elk country. Several distance options are available, and the marathon is Boston-qualifier certified. The trail setting keeps things scenic, and the surrounding hills and forest give the whole morning a different feel than a road race through a suburb.
Packet pickup happens near the start and finish on race morning, so you can grab your bib and get moving without an extra trip the day before. Parking is in a lot beside the Visitor's Center, not at the start line itself, so build in a short walk. The start and finish share the same spot on the trail in downtown Emporium.
