About the Run for Recovery by StrongWILL

The course runs along the Suffolk Seaboard Coastline Trail, a paved rail trail that stays flat the whole way. The race is organized by a local nonprofit built around substance abuse recovery, founded in memory of a family member lost to overdose, so the crowd tends to be people who know each other and know why they are there. Afterward, the area feeds into a community parade and street festival.

Packet pickup is the evening before at the trail entrance, where Kings Highway meets Nansemond Parkway, with a race-morning option at the same spot. Parking near the trailhead is limited and free only through the end of the race, so expect to move your car quickly. A nearby elementary school has overflow parking, a short walk to the start. Light breakfast and water are available post-race.
