About the Run for Reading 5k
The course runs through Commons Park, which keeps things straightforward underfoot. Costumes and themed outfits are common, dogs on leashes come along, and the whole morning is oriented around a book drive for a local children's literacy program. There is a donation table for gently used children's books, and free books are available to take home on race day.
Packet pickup happens the evening before at a running store inside a nearby mall, with same-day pickup available at the park before the start. Post-race refreshments are set up at the finish, and an awards ceremony follows shortly after the last finisher comes in.
