About the Run for Raptors Trail Race
The course runs through Swope Park on natural trails, so expect exposed roots, rocks, and the occasional fallen log underfoot. The terrain rewards attention: footing matters more than pace, especially on the downhills. The race is connected to a nature center, and staff bring live raptors to the start area, which makes the pre-race atmosphere genuinely different from most trail mornings.
Packet pickup the evening before is at Lakeside Nature Center. Race-morning pickup opens early at Lake Lodge, the same building where the race starts. Parking around the lodge is limited, so arriving early helps. Bathrooms are inside the lodge, and it is air-conditioned, which matters on a summer trail race morning.
