About the Light of Hope 5K and Fan Fest
The course runs through Vista View Park in Fort Lauderdale, with the race starting in the afternoon rather than the usual early morning. That timing is the defining thing here: you are running into a South Florida sunset, and the light over the park in the final stretch is worth showing up for. Awards go to top overall finishers and age group winners.
The Fan Fest setup means there is more going on around the start and finish than at a typical road race. The event is tied to organ and tissue donation awareness, so the crowd tends to include donor families and recipients alongside runners, which gives the afternoon a different weight than most local fives.
