About the RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile & Mini Trail Runs

The course winds through a state forest and an adjacent state park, rolling through piedmont hills on a loop that returns to where you started. There is a longer option and a shorter one; the shorter route mixes park trails, single-track, and a multi-use trail. Neither is flat, but the shorter distance makes the terrain more approachable for hikers and newer trail runners.

Cabins inside the park can be reserved the night before, which makes this an easy overnight if you want to avoid an early morning drive. Both distances start and finish at the state park, so parking and logistics center on one spot.

Common Questions About the RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile & Mini Trail Runs

Will I finish last at the RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile & Mini Trail Runs?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10.4 Miles field finished slower than 2:06:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:45:47, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile & Mini Trail Runs a good first 10.4 Miles?

It is a small race (124 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10.4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the RRRC Bear Creek 10 Mile & Mini Trail Runs?

The 10.4 Miles winner ran 1:18:37 while the median finisher took 2:06:22. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
