The course runs on the fairways of a golf course on Thanksgiving morning, so the ground is wide open and the surroundings are quiet. The route stays on grass through the course grounds, which gives it a softer, more open feel than a road race.
Packet pickup is held the weekend before at the golf course's on-site venue, with race-morning pickup available as well. The proceeds go toward local student scholarships, which gives the morning a purpose beyond the race itself.
