The course runs around Horseshoe Lake, so there is water beside you for most of the route. The terrain is generally flat with a paved path. The race benefits breast cancer awareness and is held in memory of a mentor the organizers clearly want to honor. A mariachi band plays, and Riviera Maya brings tacos to the finish area.
