About the Retrofit Athletics-7th Annual Sweaty Yeti Turkey Trot

The race starts on Maine Street in Spirit Lake and serves as a Thanksgiving morning run. The course has a longer option for those who want extra mileage before the holiday meal. It draws a broad crowd, strollers and leashed dogs included, so the pace on the road varies widely.

Proceeds from the race support a local nonprofit based in Spirit Lake. Packet pickup for virtual participants runs through the organizer's shop, with a shipping option available for those who cannot make it in person.

Common Questions About the Retrofit Athletics-7th Annual Sweaty Yeti Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Retrofit Athletics-7th Annual Sweaty Yeti Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 42:06, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:17:34, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Retrofit Athletics-7th Annual Sweaty Yeti Turkey Trot a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (183 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Retrofit Athletics-7th Annual Sweaty Yeti Turkey Trot?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 19:20 while the median finisher took 42:06. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
