About the Resilience Run

The course at Fontana Park runs on a mix of paved and unpaved surfaces, so expect to shift between pavement and dirt as you go. Dogs on leashes are welcome, which shapes the mood of the field in a particular way. Water is out on the course, and there are refreshments and snacks at the finish.

The race takes place alongside a city fitness and wellness event, so the park has more going on than just the run. Staying after gives you something to walk into rather than a parking lot.

Common Questions About the Resilience Run

Will I finish last at the Resilience Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:44, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Resilience Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (84 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Resilience Run?

The 5K winner ran 19:19 while the median finisher took 36:22. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
