About the Reindeer Run 5k

The course runs through Festival Park and is certified, flat, and quick. There is a costume contest on race day, which gives the morning a different feel than a plain winter run. A portion of race proceeds supports a foundation dedicated to helping first responders dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at a local running store in Bel Air, or on race morning under the pavilion at Festival Park. Race-morning pickup starts early, well before the gun.

Common Questions About the Reindeer Run 5k

Will I finish last at the Reindeer Run 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.11 Miles field finished slower than 34:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:48, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Reindeer Run 5k a good first 3.11 Miles?

A field of 445 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.11 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Reindeer Run 5k?

The 3.11 Miles winner ran 15:26 while the median finisher took 34:07. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
