About the Redlands Turkey Trot

The course starts at a street corner near a university stadium and winds through the surrounding campus neighborhood. The streets here are fairly level, with tree-lined residential blocks typical of older college-town areas. A shorter kids' dash runs alongside the main event, so the start area has a range of ages and energy on Thanksgiving morning.

Proceeds from the race go to a pair of charitable organizations, one local and one international, so the entry fee does something beyond covering logistics.

Common Questions About the Redlands Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Redlands Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 46:51, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:26:15, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Redlands Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

With 5,584 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Redlands Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 15:27 while the median finisher took 46:51. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
