About the RCS Turkey Trot

The course runs through Randolph and comes back to where it started, at the school that puts the race on. It is flat throughout, which makes it a reasonable choice for Thanksgiving morning when legs are cold and the goal is more about movement than grinding out a hard effort.

The race starts and finishes at Randolph Christian School, so the start area is right there on campus. On-site registration opens early on race morning, with packet pickup available before the gun goes off. The race benefits the school directly.

Common Questions About the RCS Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the RCS Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the RCS Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

It is a small race (95 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the RCS Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 17:31 while the median finisher took 33:27. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
