About the Race For Open Space
The course winds through a nature preserve where the terrain changes as you move, shifting between woodland, open prairie, and the lumpy glacial ground beneath it all. The trails roll with the land rather than staying flat, and the longer option adds a second loop of the same ground. Dogs and strollers are not welcome on the course.
Packet pickup happens race morning before the start, so there is no need to make a separate trip the day before. Have your confirmation email ready on your phone, as volunteers will scan the QR code from it. Parking is coordinated by volunteers at a nearby lot, and the address is listed on the race page.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
