About the Race for Grace 5K

The Race for Grace 5K benefits The Grace Place, a local ministry serving people across Batesville and the surrounding area. The course starts and finishes at the Depot Gazebo on Broadway Street, a central downtown spot that gives the morning a neighborhood feel. The race draws people who are there as much for the cause as for the miles.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the same Depot Gazebo location, with a second window on race morning before the start. Having both options in the same spot makes the logistics simple, especially if you are coming in from out of town.

Common Questions About the Race for Grace 5K

Will I finish last at the Race for Grace 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 40:25, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:20, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Race for Grace 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (74 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Race for Grace 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 23:05 while the median finisher took 40:25. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
