About the Quilcene Oyster Races

The course runs through Quilcene with woodlands, water, and mountains in the surrounding landscape. Several distance options are available, including a half marathon, so there is room for different goals on the same morning. A duo format lets participants push someone in a jogging chair alongside them, which opens the course up to families running together.

The races start and finish at Worthington Park, home to a restored Victorian-era mansion that makes for an unusual backdrop at the start line. Local oysters and craft beer are at the finish. Proceeds support a scholarship fund for area students and teachers.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Quilcene Oyster Races

Will I finish last at the Quilcene Oyster Races?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 39:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:00:52, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Quilcene Oyster Races a good first 5K?

It is a small race (64 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Quilcene Oyster Races?

The 5K winner ran 20:17 while the median finisher took 39:20. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
