About the Quality of Life Run 2026

The course runs downhill the whole way, dropping off the Rims and into the city below. The longer distance starts at Masterson Circle on top, heads east along the highway, and eventually joins the shorter course near the MSU-B campus before both routes finish together at a cul-de-sac on the north side of Billings. The descent is consistent enough that runners chasing a fast time tend to get one.

The race benefits Off The Streets, a Billings organization that works with people experiencing chronic homelessness, providing housing, meals, and employment support. That context is worth knowing before you show up; the event has a clear sense of purpose behind it, and the crowd reflects that.

Common Questions About the Quality of Life Run 2026

Will I finish last at the Quality of Life Run 2026?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:11, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:07:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Quality of Life Run 2026 a good first 5K?

It is a small race (44 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Quality of Life Run 2026?

The 5K winner ran 24:16 while the median finisher took 36:11. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
