About the Q-Town Evening Road Races

The race starts at the high school on the east side of Quincy, with packet pickup in the building before the gun. The evening start means you are running in fading light, which gives the whole thing a different feel than a morning race. Proceeds go to the school's National Honor Society and Student Council, so the connection to the community is direct.

Common Questions About the Q-Town Evening Road Races

Will I finish last at the Q-Town Evening Road Races?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:47, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:22, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Q-Town Evening Road Races a good first 5K?

It is a small race (40 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Q-Town Evening Road Races?

The 5K winner ran 20:43 while the median finisher took 33:47. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
