About the PTI 5k/10k Run on the Runway
The course runs on an actual airport runway, which makes this one of the more unusual road events you will find. The surface is smooth and wide, the grade is essentially flat the whole way, and the views out across the airfield are unlike anything you get at a park or street race. Bikes, rollerblades, and pets are not allowed, since the runway remains a secure facility.
Parking is at the Truist Leadership Institute lot on Airport Center Drive, and shuttles run from there to the runway. You cannot walk to the start, so plan to arrive with enough time to catch a bus before the race begins. Packet pickup happens at Fleet Feet in High Point and at the airport departure terminal in the days before the race; there is no pickup on race day itself.
