About the Protect Your Peace 5k
The course runs through the Belhaven neighborhood, looping out from Protect Your Peace Studios and returning to it. It is a road route through a residential area, and because the race falls on Halloween, costumes are part of the scene. Awards go to top finishers by gender and age group, and there are separate prizes for best costume and best group costume.
The evening before race day, the studio hosts a packet pickup gathering with a DJ and a local beverage vendor on site. It is a chance to meet other runners before the morning. The start area is the studio itself, so there is a clear home base for the whole event.
